Renewable energy, give it 100%
When it comes to climate change, major electricity using companies can go from being a big part of the problem to being a big part of the solution.
Together, we’ve got a way to turn one of Australia’s biggest sources of domestic emissions into a major generator of clean and reliable renewable energy.
Did you know that major companies and institutions consume around 70% of Australia’s electricity supply? The problem is, most of this electricity comes from dirty coal, and coal is the single biggest driver of climate change in Australia.
But if major companies publicly commit to using 100% renewable energy – and match that commitment with action, it’ll not only kick-start hundreds of new solar and wind projects across Australia, it’ll create thousands of new jobs and take huge amounts of dirty energy out of the grid.
Greenpeace has launched a report that looks at 80 of Australia’s biggest companies and how much progress on renewables they’ve made. The good news is, many major companies are already switching to renewable energy. They’re doing it because it’s cheaper, cleaner and more reliable.
But there are still many more that need to go much further, much faster.
Together we’ll hold up renewable leaders and call out brands falling behind. We’ll go company to company until all our biggest energy users make public commitments to 100%.
When it comes to climate change, major electricity using companies can go from being a big part of the problem to being a big part of the solution.
As companies make these commitments – and promote them to their customer base – it will help shift the public conversation around 100% renewable energy – showing 100% renewables is doable, economical, necessary and good for everyone.
